Snow Removal
Keeping snow from building up on a roof helps prevent many potential hazards. Excess weight on your roof can cause dangerous situations, including leaks and potential roof collapse. On the average, one square foot of snow that is one inch in depth weighs about a pound. If your roof has 12 inches of snow on it, the weight of the snow could add thousands of pounds to the roof causing roof stress that could end in potential collapse. Ice dams that may form as a result of accumulated snow adds additional weight to the roof and increased risk of damage. Ice dams can form along the edge of a roof and prevent melting snow from draining. This water can work its way under the roofing which also adds excess weight to the roof and may cause additional leaks and damage.
